A selection of places of interest in the vicinity
Here you will find a wide range of natural gems, historical buildings, museums and points of interest for the adventurous: Dachstein Sky Walk and Ice Palace, Wild Waters, Rittisberg and much more!
Dachstein Sky Walk - the balcony of the Alps
The Dachstein Sky Walk provides thrills. You will find this viewing platform at the top station of the Dachstein cable car, on the 250-metre drop of the Hunerkogel rock face. Incidentally, another breathtaking attraction has been added to the Sky Walk floor: a glass plate now provides a direct view into the depths. But don't worry, only your imagination is trying to play tricks on you, the plate is shockproof, bulletproof and sure-footed!
Dachstein Ice Palace - In the realm of frozen worlds
At 2,700 m above sea level, you will penetrate the interior of the Dachstein Glacier and encounter ice sculptures, ice rooms, light and sound effects. You will be surprised how enchanting ice can be!
Wild waters in the Untertal
Admittedly: This excursion will require some courage from you. Because to get to the Riesachsee, you first have to master - high above the roaring floods - the alpine trail "Durch die Höll" (Through hell), which got its name with good reason. An excursion into the world of water, into the heights of the mountains and equally into the spectacle of nature.
Rittisberg - Adventure Mountain for Young and Old
The Rittisberg provides plenty of variety. Here you can marvel at Celtic stone circles with your whole family, visit Indian tents from the inside, climb lookout trees or play beach volleyball at lower altitudes. Speaking of heights: the Forest-Park high ropes course also offers its own climbing garden for the very youngest from the age of three.
The summer toboggan run 'Rittisberg Coaster' provides absolute tobogganing fun. Over a length of 1,300 metres you whizz silently on steel tubes
Steel tubes between the trees - only the shrieking of cheers can be heard
Down, into the roundabout ... here you whizz down the orange-coloured one or two-seater coasters at high speed or at leisure
or two-seaters, because you can control the speed yourself
Mountain go-kart
The venue for this adventure is the Hochwurzen. Here, shock-absorbing go-karts and downhill scooters equipped with bucket seats are just waiting to whizz downhill for 7 km. Once on board, the fun starts all by itself.
Friedenskircherl on the Stoderzinken
Even the journey to the Stoderzinken, at 2,047 metres above sea level, is a pleasure, as you drive along an asphalted and toll-free mountain road. Once at the top, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Gröbminger Land. You can also hike to the landmark of the Stoderzinken, the Friedenskircherl. The church itself is built into a steeply sloping rock, but the hike there is suitable for families.
Admont Abbey
The Benedictine Abbey of Admont is home to cultural artefacts, some of which were here a millennium ago. The abbey library is widely known and is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria. A visit to this impressive abbey is worthwhile not only in bad weather.
Nature Park Jewel Sölktäler
The nature park jewels of the Sölktäler Nature Park include worthwhile excursion destinations such as the Sölker Jesuit Garden, Großsölk Castle, the Sölk Pass, the Sölker Marble, the Schwarzensee Lake and the Spruce Condensation Water Moor.
The historic Großsölk Castle has existed since the 14th century and was located on a medieval mule track over the Sölk Pass. In the 17th century, the castle was handed over to the Jesuit College in Graz and became a base for re-Catholicisation. Today it houses the permanent exhibition "Natura Mirabilis" with interesting insights into the life of muleteers, the history of the castle, information on endangered animal species and avalanches. The Steirerkas is presented in a themed exhibition. There is a castle café, the St. Leonhard church and a castle garden. For young researchers from the age of 7, an event, the Nature Park Laboratory, takes place every Monday. Various thematic modules are presented. Children can test their skills in the search for marble, forest educational games or stirring herbal creams. With the Sommercard, which you get free of charge during your stay with us at the Natur-und Wellnesshotel Höflehner****Superior, this event can be enjoyed with free admission.
Over 200 different plants, including old vegetable varieties, special herbs, flowers and grain varieties grow in the Jesuit garden. Many varieties are no longer on sale today and are in danger of disappearing. Therefore, this garden also serves to preserve old and special varieties. Young plants and seeds are available for sale to interested people.
Brandalm
The Brandalm is idyllically situated at an altitude of almost 1,600 m above sea level in the middle of the Ramsau alpine pasture area at the foot of the Dachstein. The magnificent mountain scenery and the fantastic view of the Dachstein south walls and the Schladminger Tauern on the opposite side invite you to linger on the sun terrace. A mountaineers' memorial and the Dachstein Kircherl commemorate the mountaineers who have fallen in the Dachstein region since 1879. The Brandalm is famous for its traditional & regional doughnut specialities and is open from mid-May to All Saints' Day (beginning of November)
