Why is keeping your dog on a leash so important?

• Safety:
  Even the best-trained dog cannot always be fully controlled, especially in natural surroundings. Without a leash, your dog could run out of sight and unintentionally cause dangerous situations.
• Wildlife protection:
  Dogs can startle wild animals such as deer. If a doe is frightened, she may abandon her fawn, which will no longer be accepted because of the human scent.
• Grazing animals:
  Cows, particularly mother cows, may perceive dogs as a threat (they often mistake them for wolves) and may react aggressively. In such situations, you may remove your dog’s leash to protect yourself.
• Consideration:
  Not everyone is comfortable around dogs, and phrases like “Don’t worry, he’s friendly” don’t help those who are afraid. Respect and mindfulness are essential for a pleasant coexistence.

Your responsibility as a dog owner

• Waste disposal:
  Dog waste on pastures can cause serious illness in cows and calves. Please always collect and dispose of your dog’s waste properly.
• Sticks:
  After playing fetch, please remove sticks from meadows – they can damage agricultural machinery.
• Avoid pastures:
  Please do not enter grazing areas. They are not playgrounds but important agricultural land for local farmers.
